You’ve decided to visit the artisans along Scenic 276 - Perhaps you started in Brevard, working your way up to Cedar Mountain and you are getting a little hungry. Who wouldn’t? After all, you’ve just seen and bought some of the most beautiful artwork right here in Transylvania County and all of North Carolina for that matter!

Well I have to tell you, Dave and I just found another little gem to satisfy those pangs of hunger welling up inside you -

The other evening, while Dave was visiting, he suggested we go to town and have some Mexican food. And of course, here in Transylvania County, we have some of the best I’ve ever tasted. But I remembered that right here, near our house, The 3 Caballeros had opened over the last year and I still hadn’t tried it (my mistake). So there it was about 7 pm, and I suggested we just head over there and give it a try. We had already decided that we wanted to take-it-out and eat at home.

Well within a half hour we were back home eating the Number 1. Combination dinner of one taco, two enchiladas and our choice of either rice or refried beans - $7.00. Dave chose the rice, and I the beans. And I must say, I’ll be going back.

It’s in the location of the former Raintree Restuarant, conveniently located on Hwy. 276. The interior has changed to reflect the ambiance one would hope to find in a Mexican Restaurant and the place, on a Tuesday evening, was bustling with families, couples, and others waiting (albeit briefly) for their take-out orders.

The 3 Caballeros is open for lunch from 11-2 and reopens for the dinner hour right up to 10 pm.

The menu is filled with everyone’s favorites, with a lunch menu; appetizers, salads, vegetarian choices, combination dinners, especialidades, fajita dishes, dinners, burritos and enchiladas, a la carte, desserts, side orders and of course, a kid’s menu.

It was good and I think value priced - something for everyone - and worth a visit -

So whether you are taking the drive on Scenic 276, just out for a day trip in the mountains of Western North Carolina, bringing your kids to camp, staying at one of the beautiful cabins in the area, live here year round or for the summer, golfing at Sherwood Forest, hiking, biking, visiting the waterfalls at DuPont State Forest - it doesn’t matter what brought you out - I am sure you’ll enjoy whatever you try at The 3 Caballeros! I know I look forward to showing Dan the great discovery Dave and I made right here on Scenic 276.
