Kris Dixon was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and has lived in Tennessee, Indiana, Iowa, and Ohio. She and her husband now live in Brevard, North Carolina.  Her undergraduate degrees in English and  Secondary Education are from Clemson University and her Master’s degree is from the University of South Carolina.  Kris taught in South Carolina public Schools for over 28 years.

When asked why she is so interested in the watercolor paper medium, Kris states “When I saw an instructor painting in watercolors and observed how fluidly the colors blended, I was hooked.  I put away my oils and acrylics and never looked back.”  She also notes, watercolor is a challenging medium which has taught me patience.  I’ve learned that muddy colors and ‘balloons’ come from the need to keep dabbling in paint.  Each painting is a little showing of my soul put on white paper.”  Kris is a watercolorist who loves color.  She has an interest in landscapes, architectural renderings, and portraiture.  A member of the South Carolina Watercolor Society, she has had individual shows as well as being a participant in many juried shows.
