Land of Waterfalls Art Gallery - Kathy Gagnon - A Profile

Kathy Gagnon is a signature member of the Ohio Watercolor Society, and also holds memberships in the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and the Henderson County Art League. Kathy has been an artist all her life, and started painting in oil at the age of 14. After thirty years of oil painting, she switched to watercolor, and it was love at first sight! She studied at the Museum of Art in Springfield Ohio, and has taken many workshops with national instructors.

She has participated in numerous juried exhibitions, and has been the recipient of a number of awards, including an award from the Ohio Watercolor Society. Examples of her work can be found in corporate and private collections throughout Ohio, the eastern states, Canada and Japan.

Kathy prefers realism and impressionism, stressing simplicity of subject matter and transparency of color. Her favorite subjects are close-ups of nature in its infinite variety. She enjoys depicting sunlight on her subjects, especially the drama of backlighting. The predominant mood of her work is quiet and speaks of an inner peace.
