Gwen, a native of Ohio, has resided in the four corners of the USA, including Seattle, LA, and Savannah.  Currently, she maintains her home and studio in Transylvania County’s mountains.

Natural curiosity and love of nature have led Gwen to her lifetime passion: painting.  She states, “I have been an artist for over forty years.  This is now my time in life to stretch my artistic wings and grow in technique and topic.”  She uses her wildlife photography as a resource for her subject matter of birds and animals.  She excels in capturing facial expressions and the eyes of her subjects.  Gwen’s style ranges from realism to abstract.

Gwen studied art at Kent State University and under various professionals: Lowell Ellsworth Smith & Don Getz of Ohio; Al Broulette of Texas; Gary Low of New Brunswick, Canada; and Ann DerGara & Virginia Pendergrass of North Carolina.  Her work has been accepted in juried shows in Ohio, Savannah, and Brevard, North Carolina.

Gwen’s creations are on display at her Brevard, NC studio as well as the Land of Waterfalls Art Gallery (Cedar Mountain 828-883-3830).
